ensa First Aid for Mental Health

Talking about mental health isn't a given, even for those responsible for it. At ensa's national instructor day, we explored with 100 instructors from across Switzerland how tactile methods can help address difficult topics and how they can remain relevant to people in a digitalized world.

Four languages, one method, a hundred perspectives and plenty of inspiration.

Workshop philosophy

Initial situation

One hundred ensa facilitators, dedicated to workplace mental health, exchanged ideas at the national instructors' day. The central question was: How do you talk about difficult topics when the working world is becoming increasingly digital and fast-paced, and human connection is becoming increasingly technical?

Implementation

In a four-language LEGO Serious Play workshop in German, English, French, and Romansh, we explored precisely this question. Instead of traditional lectures, participants literally built their own answers: What do they need as facilitators to effectively guide groups? How do they use digital tools, and what does that mean for mental health in the workplace?

result

The tactile method created depth and shared understanding. The visualizations made visible what otherwise remains invisible: personal attitudes, uncertainties, and priorities in dealing with a sensitive topic. 100 people, four languages, one shared space for understanding.
