Golden Circle

Those active in many areas risk appearing vague to the outside world and talking past each other internally. For an NGO working in the asylum and integration sector, this was precisely the challenge: a lot of commitment, but no common language.

We changed that in an intensive workshop day. Thirteen people from different departments worked together to define what the organization stands for, how it thinks, and what that means for their daily work. What follows is just as important as the day itself: a guided process that ensures the work doesn't just stay on the flipchart, but becomes tangible for donors, those supported, and employees.

Workshop philosophy

Initial situation

An NGO working in the asylum and integration sector operates in various departments. This leads to differing opinions among staff and results in unclear external communication. Consequently, stakeholders and staff have different understandings of the organization's mission and priorities. This leads to communication gaps and a lack of coherence in daily operations. Thirteen people from all departments participated in the workshop.

Implementation

In a one-day Golden Circle workshop using a variety of materials, we first established a common foundation: Why does this organization exist, what drives it? From there, we worked our way through the how and what, breaking it down to the individual departments. This process not only created a shared understanding but also a concrete grasp of the respective logics of argumentation and their implementation in daily practice. Targeted follow-up sessions ensure that the insights gained are not confined to the workshop but are put into practice in everyday work.

result

The participants left the workshop with a much clearer understanding of each other: which department is working on what, why, and with what rationale. We are currently in the implementation phase, integrating the new directions into existing workflows.
